A Look at School Experiments

M WORDS - MICROSCOPES & MITOSIS

S4E and S4S Biology students putting into practice what they have learned about how to use microscopes and mitosis. They observed plant cells and identified different cells in different phases of Mitosis (Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase). The moment that the students first managed to focus their specimen and to see their reaction to this was wonderful.

STATIC ELECTRICITY

A great way to learn about something is by doing. Here are S3E learning about static electricity - the result of an imbalance between negative and positive charges in an object or between objects.

ATOMS, ELEMENTS & MOLECULES

S2E and S2S did experiments involving separation of mixtures as part of their learning for the unit Atoms, Elements & Molecules in Integrated Sciences. The smell of coffee wafted throughout the S2 classrooms while students practiced the skills of casting/decanting and filtration. They also used magnets to separate salt and iron filings as well as filter paper with colourful markers to observe Chromatography. They were delighted with the processes in action and the end results.
