Farewell to the First Generation of European School Ljubljana Graduates
On Friday, 30 May 2025, a historic milestone was marked at our school: we held our very first farewell ceremony for the inaugural generation of graduates. In the art classroom, all secondary school students and teachers gathered to bid farewell to 12 students from class S7 — five from the English section and seven from the Slovene section — as they embarked on new academic and life journeys on their final day of regular classes.
The ceremony was hosted by the Secondary Deputy Director, Mr Matthew Charlesworth, and featured heartfelt addresses by the Head of School, Ms Špela Peklar, and student council representative Julie Pichereau (S5).
Representing the graduates, Nia Cencič Petar (Slovene section) and Tristan Pichereau (English section) gave thoughtful speeches, expressing gratitude to their classmates, teachers, and staff for their support throughout their years at the school.
During the event, the graduates received their final year reports and personalised awards commemorating their unique place as the first graduating class of the European School Ljubljana. These special prizes were presented by teachers Jerca Starc, Žak Zupan, Brenden Schussler, and Tanya Charlesworth.
The ceremony, filled with humour and moving moments, concluded with a thunderous round of applause for the graduates, along with warm wishes for success in the European Baccalaureate exams, which began the following week. The examination period for class S7 continues until early July, with oral exams scheduled after the written tests.
