On Friday, 17 April 2026, the High School Haiku Competition award ceremony took place at Cankarjev dom.

Congratulations to Julie Pichereau from S6S (3rd year of gimnazija) at the European School Ljubljana, author of the award-winning haiku in Spanish. The winning poem, published in the printed anthology by Gimnazija Vič, reads:

A mi pueblito
Una vez regresaré
Y te abrazaré

(To my little town / I will one day return / and hold you in my arms.)

We also extend our congratulations to the Slovenian students and their mentor, Svetlana Jandrić, whose haikus were selected for publication.
