Last Friday, the 2nd of June marked the 3rd annual International Day celebration of the Eslj Community. The event commenced with a colorful parade of nations as students walked and waved their flags proudly to a delighted crowd of parents and teachers. A series of entertaining presentations added to the festivities. However, we could all agree that beyond the scrumptious banquet of international cuisine which literally left everyone with a pleasant taste in their mouths, it was the sense of belonging amidst diversity which gave the feeling of warmth in our hearts. A message from one grandmother resonated, "I was in tears seeing students coming from so many different countries together in one school." May we always be advocates of the true meaning of being international, which is a mindset rooted from respect and understanding, and in Eslj, "we're all in this together."
