Stories from the Crossroads

P3S and P3E pupils have been discovering interesting facts about prehistoric times for quite some time now. As you can never have too much knowledge, though, on Tuesday, 9 February, we went to the National Museum of Slovenia to see the permanent exhibition Stories from the Crossroads. We were guided by a friendly archaeologist, who took us back in time from the Stone Age to the Ancient History providing us with interesting explanations. It was amazing to see the preserved ten-meter-high colonial trunk and the 60,000-year-old Neanderthal flute from the cave of Divnji Bab! To get a better understanding of how much work must have gone into making such a flute (and the tools available at the time), we also tried our hand at carving bones using stone. It would have taken us a few more weeks of hard work to make something similar. One of the most impressive artefacts from the Iron Age was the situla. We will be happy to share our stories and what we have learnt with our families and friends.

Also, we are quite sure we will return to the National Museum to see more wonderful finds from other historical periods.
