Theatre Days at the European School

On Tuesday, 21 November, pupils from S4, S5 and S6 of the Slovenian section went to the Drama Theatre to see Dominic Smolet's Antigone. They all read Sophocles' Antigone in depth at school. They were able to combine their knowledge of both plays into a real comparative literature experience! The most memorable part of the play was the goat, which played an important role in the play, and the pupils were proud to be able to explain why this animal is so important to the tragedy. (You can ask them at :) )

On Friday 24 November, S1, S2 and S3 pupils from the Slovenian section watched the educational theatre performance The Theatre for Teleban at the Ljubljana City Theatre. Based on Linhart's comedy This Happy Day or Little Mother is Getting Married, the actors introduced the pupils to basic theatre concepts and theatre professions in an entertaining and educational way. This time, the pupils were not only spectators, but they also took on the role of actors and performed on stage for a few moments.

On Monday, 27 November, the students of S4, S5 and S6 of the English section of Teater Ljud had a theatrical experience with the Interactive Citizenship workshop at our school. The students had the opportunity to learn some theatre techniques, step out of their comfort zone and try some basic improvisation exercises.

On Tuesday 28 November, Teater Ljud performed a play called How the world came to be? for S1, S2 and S3 students of the English section at our school. The play is about both the origins and the end of the world, both the colourful origin myths of different cultures and the possibility of an ecological catastrophe caused by modern humanity. They are taken on a journey through a global treasure trove of stories by Auntie Earth, who has fallen seriously ill over the last 100 years and needs our help.
