Walk Along the Wire

Rather than sit in our classrooms, on Tuesday 11th May, we opted to have a sports day. This time we went on a hike to the "Walk Along the Wire".

The march takes place along an almost 35 km long path around Ljubljana, where a barbed-wire fence of the Italian and subsequently German occupiers stood during the Second World War, leading it to be named the Walk Along the Wire. In addition to the commemorating the liberation of Ljubljana (9 May 1945), the event was initially created with the intention to promote mobility and a healthy lifestyle, which is its main goal today.

Secondary level students walked 16 kilometres, while younger students walked a little less. We both took advantage of the beautiful sunny day to have fun on various playgrounds, chat and observe the surroundings. By lunch, we were all back at school, and the next day we were all aware that our leg muscles had been greatly neglected during distance learning
