Wonder Wednesdays: Fishing for Ice Cubes!

In last week's edition of Wonder Wednesdays, P2E wanted to know: Why is there salt all over our parking lot?

We conducted an experiment to see the effect of salt on ice by trying to "catch" ice cubes with regular string and water, and then trying to catch them using salt. Magic! We learned about freezing points and the idea of "freezing point depression" and that helped us understand that the salt in our parking lot keeps us safe by melting ice that forms when it's cold. Now we want to follow up our investigation by finding out: what else can we use to melt ice?
