Carnival Treasure Hunt

There was a lot going on at our school on Carnival Tuesday! Primary school pupils and children from our kindergarten took part in a treasure hunt in the centre of Ljubljana. With the help of descriptions of famous buildings, puzzles and maps, they went from the school to the Slovenian National Theatre Drama Ljubljana, then to Congress Square, then to the National and University Library, then to the Križanke Summer Theatre and from there back to the school playground.

Some groups walked in the opposite direction. At each of the five stations, a mask of forest animals was waiting for the pupils. These were an owl, a fox, a deer, a snail and a squirrel. There were three different tasks waiting for them. They had to identify and describe a traditional Slovenian mask - the kurent, learn a carnival song, solve maths challenges, guess the forest animals in a pantomime, play a relay game and draw original clowns.

The treasure hunt ended with a prize - a delicious doughnut. With new experience, knowledge and good mood, we finished the carnival activity.
