At the secondary level, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Peter Jakša, Language Officer at the European Commission, along with two translation students from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Our guests delivered an engaging workshop for our S6 students about the European translation competition Juvenes Translatores.

The session introduced the competition, highlighted the importance of multilingualism, and explained the vital role translators play within the European context. Students discovered that translation is a skill which opens doors to the world, and how essential language is in connecting people, cultures and countries.

At the end of the event, certificates were awarded to this year’s participants in recognition of their commitment, precision and courage. Through their work, they demonstrated that translation is far more than simply transferring words from one language to another – it is also about understanding the world.
